Ms. Horowitz, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker.  She received her Bachelor of Arts degree
from Ohio State University and a Master of Social Work degree from Wurzweiler School of Social Work
at Yeshiva University.  While attending graduate school she was awarded a National Institute of Mental
Health grant for two years.

Ms. Horowitz has a Certificate in Employee Assistance Knowledge and Practice from Cornell University
School of Industrial and Labor Relations.  

Subsequent to 9-11 Ms. Horowitz received extensive training in the field of trauma from the Mental
Health Association of New York and The National Center for Post-Traumatic Stress at the Veterans
Administration in Palo Alto, CA.

She has worked as a Team Leader for POPPA (Police Organization Providing Peer Assistance) Project
Liberty Crisis Counseling Program.  The program consisted of peer assistance officers and social
workers who visited police precincts offering crisis counseling, information and education.  Ms.
Horowitz has also worked as an Employee Assistance Counselor providing counseling at the worksite
to union members and federal employees.

Ms. Horowitz has provided counseling and psychotherapy for a range of clients from various ethnic
backgrounds for the past 25 years.  She has a strong interest in the field of addiction and has authored
several articles including, "Addiction and the Search for Self" and "Violence: Teens' Deadly Drug of
Choice -- A Vision for Healing in the New Millennium."

During the course of her career, Ms. Horowitz has presented workshops for the professional
community on such topics as "Women in Recovery: Reclaiming Their Sexuality and Spirituality" and
"Trauma and Spirituality in the Workplace."
