Dr. Kaplowitz also practices brief psychotherapy for those who wish to focus on specific issues related
to stress or anxiety, including work stress (e.g., lack of focus, irritability, loss of motivation), specific
stress-symptoms (e.g., insomnia, restlessness, fatigue, tension headaches, stomach pains), and
more intense anxiety issues (e.g., trauma-related stress, panic, obsessive thinking, phobias).  Through
his work at New York’s two major anxiety research centers, Columbia University Medical Center and
Weill Cornell Medical Center, he has gained expertise in several evidence-based treatments and
techniques for anxiety, including Relaxation Therapy (RT), Exposure Therapy (ET), and Mindfulness-
Based Stress Reduction (MBSR).
Dr. Kaplowitz provides both insight-oriented and
cognitive-behavioral psychotherapy to individuals,
families, and couples.  He specializes in the integration
of psychoanalytic insight and learning theories in order to
help free up the potential for change, and then cement it
into reality.

Dr. Kaplowitz’ clinical experience encompasses a variety
of outpatient and inpatient populations through his work
and training at four major medical centers, including
Columbia Presbyterian Medical Center, Weill Cornell
Medical Center, Beth Israel Medical Center, and
Stamford Hospital.  His research interests include the
development of novel treatments for clinical disorders.
