mental health clinics.  For the past 4 years, Dr. Erel has been providing individual and group
psychotherapy, and crisis intervention services in an assisted living/adult home facility for chronically
mentally ill adults and elderly clients who are struggling with a range of cognitive, emotional, and
behavioral problems.

Dr. Erelʼs primary areas of interest include anxiety disorders, depression, sexual abuse, bicultural/
immigration adjustment difficulties, PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder), psychosis (schizophrenia,
bipolar disorder), grief, loss, and relationship difficulties.

Currently, Dr. Erel is receiving advanced training at the NIP (National Institute for the Psychotherapies)
in Trauma Treatment Certificate Program and offers psychodynamically/psychoanalytically oriented
individual psychotherapy at the Wall Street Counseling Center.
Emel Erel, Psy.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist
experienced in providing individual and group
psychotherapy both in English and Turkish for  adults,
adolescents and geriatric population.

Dr. Erel received her undergraduate degree at the
Bogazici University in Istanbul, Turkey.  She completed
her Masters of Education Degree in School Psychology
at Teachers College, Columbia University and Doctorate
Degree in Clinical Psychology at the Ferkauf Graduate
School of Psychology, Yeshiva University.  Throughout
her training, Dr. Erel worked with clients from different
ethnic and socioeconomic backgrounds in various
settings including hospitals, schools, and outpatient
